Mukan Resort is located 161 km from Cancun International Airport*. Our driver will meet you at the Airport, an air-conditioned Van is equipped for a comfortable 1:50 hr trip to the entrance of the Sian Ka’an Reserve. There, the adventure begins: board a local boat with our Captain and ride the beautiful lagoon between mangroves. 50 minutes.

Recommendations: Wear comfortable shoes. Bring a light hand luggage bag with items you may need as soon as you arrive –to take on the boat-, as our driver will pick your suitcase at the Sian Ka’an Pier and bring it by land (arriving 50 minutes later than you)

Sian Ka’an saltwater lagoons offer a world class location for fly fishing. The range of game fish is exciting: bonefish, permit, tarpon, snook and barracuda. Our guide will take you to the best spot to cast your line; the beautiful sceneries are an added bonus. Our guides are native fishermen of Sian Ka’an who know the lagoon intimately: its waters, schedules, routines of the fishes. They will assist you on with the best equipment. They are the perfect link between you, the lagoon and the fish.

Discover one of the most prolific tropical bird populations in Mexico. Migratory, endemic and some endangered birds are found in the area. The day starts very early, with a brief talk about the search of the day and how to make guests participate of the official hotel bird watching statistics. The exciting walk begins, followed by a boat tour to explore the lagoon species. Birds such as hairy heron, hummingbird, ibis, spatulas, pelicans and many, many more aquatic and endemic birds are flying, nesting, passing by, resting, foraging. Jorge Machado is a passionate birdwatcher, certified in Nature Tourism, who has researched for various publications on the biosphere, birds of the peninsula and local sustainability programs. Jorge or one of his certified guides will join you in this exciting exploration.

Your immersion to the wonders of the Biosphere, begins as soon as you board a rustic boat at the Mukan’s dock. Lea Bartel, our guide, will help you to understand how the rich ecosystem of the Biosphere works, the importance of the mangroves, the local flora, the different currents of water, the beauty of the reef and the discovery of marine life: fish, turtles, dolphins while you swim and snorkel either in the Cabo Culebras area or in the natural pool. Bartel is a German nature lover who has lived in Punta Allen and Tulum for 4 years. Certified as a Nature Guide, she speaks Spanish, English, German and Italian and is an enthusiastic collaborator of some of the Biosphere programs, a defender of nature and a proud resident of the Punta Allen community.

The richness of marine life in the Riviera Maya offers surprising encounters with various types of coral, fish, rays, turtles, dolphins and even seasonally bull sharks. Your PADI Dive Master will meet you at the Sian Ka’an dock to take you to test your equipment in Tulum and start the introduction to a great experience.
Total duration: Approximately 2 to 4 hours
Inclusions: Transfer by boat to Sian Ka’an pier and by land to Tulum Beach Dive Master, boat, equipment, water, fruit

Rivers run underground in the unique soil of the Yucatan Peninsula, caves are found underwater, some of them even connecting these rivers. The cenotes are the entrance to these geological formations, sinkholes with crystalline waters and singular flora. On your dive excursion, our Dive Master will take you through one of the spectacular cenotes on this side of the Peninsula, either Dos Ojos, Angelita or Calavera.
Total duration: Approximately 6 to 7 hours

Tulum is a bubbling town with an architecture based on elements such as palms, woody vines, wood and local stone. Little hotels next to the beach, restaurants with fresh and innovative proposals, boutiques with fine textiles and creative designs create a community where hipsters, wellness followers, and locals ride the busy street that connects Sian Ka’an with the rest of the Riviera.
Our team will arrange a wonderful day enjoying all that Tulum has to offer, including a boat or land tour by the lagoon, a visit to the ruins on a guided tour, shopping and eating in the town, and a visit to a nearby cenote to cool off.
Total duration: 6 hours in Tulum + transfer (1:45 hrs by boat or 3 hrs by land)
